CONDITIONS WE SPECIALIZE IN TREATING

PRENATAL CARE & BIRTH PREPARATION:

We treat pregnant individuals experiencing pelvic girdle pain, low back and SI pain, pubic joint pain, and other common difficulties. While these problems happen frequently, they are often very easily treatable. We also help people build healthy exercise patterns during pregnancy, optimize their pelvic floor function, and learn strategies to prepare for birth.

POSTPARTUM RECOVERY

POSTPARTUM RECOVERY:

We help women heal and recover after birth– whether birth is vaginal or Cesarean, and whether it was 6 weeks ago, 6 months ago, or 6 years ago. Challenges like painful scars, bladder or bowel difficulties, and diastasis rectus abdominis can occur after birth. A custom treatment program can optimize abdominal and pelvic health and prevent problems in the future.

SEXUAL PAIN & DYSFUNCTION:

We help people dealing with challenges like painful sex and alterations in sexual arousal and satisfaction. Nearly 20% of individuals experience pain related to sex, and addressing pelvic floor muscle function can be an important piece in resolving this and other difficulties.

SEXUAL PAIN &
DYSFUNCTION:
BLADDER DYSFUNCTION

BLADDER DYSFUNCTION:

We help people dealing with problems like bladder leakage, voiding dysfunction, and pain related to urination. The pelvic floor muscles are important for bladder support and continence. Weak, overactive and/or uncoordinated pelvic floor muscles can often be factors in bladder difficulties.

BOWEL DYSFUNCTION:

We help people experiencing constipation, difficulty emptying stool, difficulty holding back stool and bowel leakage. The pelvic floor muscles are important for bowel control and healthy bowel movements. Pelvic floor dysfunction can often lead to changes in bowel function.

BOWEL DYSFUNCTION
PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE

PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE:

We help people experiencing pelvic organ prolapse optimize their pelvic floor function, improve their symptoms, and reduce problems from worsening in the future. As pelvic organ prolapse involves a loss of support of the pelvic organs, the pelvic floor muscles are frequently involved and thus there is help.

PELVIC & ABDOMINAL PAIN, LOWER BACK, HIP & SI JOINT PAIN:

We help people dealing with pelvic pain, including pain in the abdomen, low back, SI joints, hips, pubic bone, tailbone and genitals. Pelvic pain can be linked to other diagnoses like endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, or prostatitis, or may happen without a known association.

MENSTRUAL PAIN (DYSMENNORRHEA)

MENSTRUAL PAIN (DYSMENNORRHEA):

Painful menstrual cramps are a leading causes of missed school for teens. We strive to encourage a multidisciplinary approach and facilitate medical care and referrals when indicated. Physical therapy interventions have been shown in research to have a positive effect on menstrual cramps. We aim to help our patients build a robust tool kit with specific exercises and modalities to reduce their pain during their periods and empower them to feel their best.
